Landscape I : Vanishing
Point is a score for four or more performers. It premiered
on March 21, 2004 at Deadtech
gallery in Chicago during the Decomposure @ Deadtech series.
The work is based on a graphite sketch and field recording I
made of the shoreline of Lake Michigan in October of 2003. The
score consists of four individual parts that can be performed
by four or more musicians. While the score is meant to help guide
the musicians through a decision-making process, the music performed
is meant to be improvisational in nature.
A composite image of the four parts of the score is shown below.
The complete score
[530k pdf file] contains an introduction, notes for the performers
and each of the four parts displayed seperately, suitable for
performance. The
field recording [3.2MB mp3 file] necessary for use as source
material in the performance is also available.
