The images shown here are a synthesis of my experiences in drawing and painting, photography, sound and graphic design. Initially applied to the packaging designs for albums released on my mp3 record label Stasisfield, this working method soon became my primary focus as a visual artist.
I approach my image-making similarly to my sound manipulation (which itself was initially inspired by my work in drawing and painting). My source material (generally photographs and drawings) is processed and re-contextualized using Photoshop to painstakingly manipulate data without the safety nets of automated workflows. My approach has many influences; the use of multiple views of a single object derives from cubism, while the images' minute reduction of pixels, blurring and fading relate to minimalism, abstract expressionist painting, contemporary computer-based sound production, and philosophies of impermanence like Wabi-Sabi.
