The Museum of Portable Sound
The Museum of Portable Sound is an experimental curatorial project begun in November 2015. I serve as the Museum's Director and Chief Curator. The Museum currently has one other staff member, our Curatorial Assistant, Cristina Sousa Martínez, and a Board of Directors made up of artists, curators, and other academic and creative industry professionals from around the world.
The Museum exists solely on a single mobile phone, making the museum itself portable. The Museum's permanent collection is made up of 117 objects on display in 21 galleries. Download a map of the Galleries.
The Museum's Exposition Space hosts temporary exhibitions of sound art. There have been three temporary exhibitions so far, featuring the work of Ryan Maguire (US), Jessica Akerman (UK, guest curated by Irene Noy), and Daniel Toca (Mexico, guest curated by Cristina Sousa Martínez). Jessica's exhibition was reviewed on the Courtauld Institute Research Forum's blog.
